April 2008 Conference

What a great conference session! Being part of the Solemn Assembly was a wonderful experience. Even though Dad and I were watching on the internet in the computer room, when it came time for us to stand and raise our hand to sustain the new prophet and the newest member of the twelve, we did so with the greatest of gratitude and appreciation. That appreciation being that we have a testimony of the knowledge that President Monson is a true proophet of God and that the power of the priesthood is truly here upon the earth today. We are also appeciative of being able to hear the words of testimony from so many of the general authorities. We especially appreciated the things Elder Oaks said about testimonies and that we should bear witness of why we each have a testimony. It made me think back to why I have a testimony of the truthfullness of the gospel here on earth today. As weird and trite as this may sound, I truly don't remember ever not having a testimony. I can remember when I was in the fifth grade in Buhl, Idaho feeling that burning inside of me which told me the gospel was true. I remember standing in a fast and testimony meeting and saying that it was true. Now, after living these many years, I still know that the gospel has been restored here on earth for us to benefit from. I am so blessed to have this knowledge.
