Visit to Gettysburg

On Friday a contingent of us went for a day trip to visit the Battle grounds of Gettysburg. We left Charlie and his family and Dad in Winchester and the Allemans and me and the Araves traveled from Hagerstown through the Cotoctin Forest to Pennsylvania. Here they are standing by the sign of the new and improved Museum and Visitor Center, newly opened this year.

We took a car ride through the battle fields. Here
is a pretty meadow with some beautiful purple
flowers.

We climbed this tower and took pictures of the surrounding battlefields from the North, South, East and West. Also a picture of the parking lot.

Here are some monuments that were erected in memory of the different battalions that fought there.

This is Ellen and Cami at the beginning of the Museum. They are standing in front of an example of a Union Soldiers uniform. In that area there was some marching music so Cami and I were marching around while the others were looking at the displays.
Steve and Jason are engrossed in discussion of something.
And here are the "ugly step-sisters".

There was a window overlooking the grounds of the Museum so Cami struck a pose. This is also her as we were walking from the Museum to the car.

Strange as it may seem there is a Chinese Buffet on the main street of Gettysburg so we stopped in to get something to eat.
Martha and Cami are posing for the camera.
Ellen is deliberating over the menu while Jason chows down on the soup.

We certainly had a great time in Gettysburg. And a special shout out to Ellen who drove the car so her Mom didn't have to.

Bedtime with Camille

When we were at the Hagerstown Mall we went into the Disney store because they are going out of business. I got a great deal on a Prince Phillip and a magical princess mirror set with a brush and a comb. Here are some pics of Cami before going to bed enjoying her new toys.

Dancing with the prince and displaying his wonderful red cape.

Mom putting the finishing touches on the braid. Then posing for pictures in brand new pink jammies.

Story-time with Cami and Mom. What a peaceful time. Goodnight, Cami.

A Saturday in Winchester, VA

On our trip out east Scott and I took a day and "absconded" Cami from Hagerstown and took her south to visit the "Winchertertonians" .

Here's Cami in the back seat of our rental car with Chocolate Chip, Geniviey, Prince Philip and the magic mirror on our way to Dallin's house.

Hangin' in the playroom with Dallin and Kenzie.

Dad and Charlie with the mint flavored water.

Cami and Kenzie having some refreshment, also.

Gpa applying the essential sunscreen.

Dallin running in Mommy's shoes.Mommy was gone seeing the sights with her sister who was visiting from Utah.

Charlie's backside while we all climb in. The water was cold and Kenzie is not liking it.

Kenzie was done with the floaty-tube. Cami and Dallin are so stylish in the floaty-vests.

Cami had no fear and was having a great time in the water until the thunder came and we all had to get out, Darn it!

The old men folk couldn't hack it and both fell asleep watching Blue's Clues.

April 2008 Conference

What a great conference session! Being part of the Solemn Assembly was a wonderful experience. Even though Dad and I were watching on the internet in the computer room, when it came time for us to stand and raise our hand to sustain the new prophet and the newest member of the twelve, we did so with the greatest of gratitude and appreciation. That appreciation being that we have a testimony of the knowledge that President Monson is a true proophet of God and that the power of the priesthood is truly here upon the earth today. We are also appeciative of being able to hear the words of testimony from so many of the general authorities. We especially appreciated the things Elder Oaks said about testimonies and that we should bear witness of why we each have a testimony. It made me think back to why I have a testimony of the truthfullness of the gospel here on earth today. As weird and trite as this may sound, I truly don't remember ever not having a testimony. I can remember when I was in the fifth grade in Buhl, Idaho feeling that burning inside of me which told me the gospel was true. I remember standing in a fast and testimony meeting and saying that it was true. Now, after living these many years, I still know that the gospel has been restored here on earth for us to benefit from. I am so blessed to have this knowledge. What did you all think of General Conference.

Jayla's 7th Birthday Sleep-over

We love having the grandkids one at a time for a special sleep-0ver close to their birthday, so it was Jayla's turn. We picked her up and took her to Village Inn for dinner. She got to pick out her very own pie. She went for Strawberry -Rhubarb.

Next morning she helped Grandpa make green waffles.

She went with us to the church house because Gpa and Gma had the assignment to clean. She helped Gpa do the black boards. She found a little balloon, so Gma and Jayla had some diversion time in the foyer.
After that we headed over to the playground at Gma's school.

Wheeeee, Jayla!
Oooooooh, Grandpa!
Then it was swing time.

Here are some of Jayla's new Birthday Duds we bought when we went shopping at Target the night before. We even stayed until it was time for the store to close. When the announcement came on over the PA that is was time for the store to close, Jayla said, "I've never been kicked out of Target before!" We had a great time!
Thanks for hanging out with us, Jayla.
