I have no pictures at this time. This is just a post about something that plagues most of us and right now is raising its ugly head again to me. It is a two part problem - losing some weight and becoming more active on a daily basis.
Here is my reality. I am an overweight Grandma who has been taking high blood pressure medicine (along with a myriad of other medicines for the unending arthritis) for a few years. Well, it hasn't been working so well. So I made an appointment with the Dr. (my blood pressure in the Dr.'s office was 160 over 90)and she has now changed my medicine. She didn't "harp" at me about my weight (although it is the highest I have ever been) or activity level, she just mentioned that losing weight could help me.
As some of you know, my preferred method of activity is walking. Well, I have been using every excuse not to go outside and walk. Here are some of those excuses, which on most days are quite legitmate. 1. I have no time 2. it is too cold 3. it is too windy 4. it gets dark too soon. Then there are those of you who remind me that I have an eliptical machine that is inside the warmth of my house.
This is what I am going to do. I will be sharing some of my thoughts and problems through the next few months and feel free to share some of your. So here are a few. Yesterday there were some goodies in the teacher's lounge. There was a big box of doughnuts and normally I would have picked one up and ate it, but I did not. I went for some fruit and a small muffin. Then today after I got my hair cut, I went for a walk for about 28 minutes. When I came back home I took my blood pressure. It was 124 over 62. Yea!
